What is Chronic Pain?
Pain negatively impacts all aspects of an individual's life, including emotional, vocational,
financial, and social elements.
Entire family's suffer dramatically by the chronic pain of a family member.
Many who live in chronic pain feel isolated because they can no longer work.
There are two types of pain, chronic and acute:
You stub your toe.
You touch a hot iron.
You have minor surgery.
You have a toothache.
You get a paper-cut.
Pain signals keep firing up the nervous system for months, even years.
The cause may be an ongoing condition like arthritis.
An illness like cancer.
Back pain followed by disc problems.
It can make people unable to work, concentrate, even socialize.
It can also make people not eat properly, sleep, and have lack of interest sexually.
Chronic pain often leads to depression, anxiety and frustration, which accentuates the pain and
leaves the patient even less able to cope with the normal activities of life.
